I have two HDR applications installed: TrueHDR and HDR Fusion. I often use them to merge two images that I've created from an original source image instead of the purpose for which they wee intended.

In this example, I've shot one of my favourite subjects (corners), left one as it was and created a high-contrast black and white.

The original image is the first in the slideshow.

The black and white edit is the second.

The merge from True HDR is third.

The merge from HDR Fusion is last.

Whilst similar, the results are not identical. I'm not sure which of these I prefer. Often, I'll use both applications to create an image and one of them immediately leaps out as the preferred.

Not this time.

I regularly use two applications to create  double-exposures:

  • DoubleExp (or DXP) - created for just that purpose; and
  • TrueHDR - created for making HDR (High Dynamic Range) photos.

For the examples in this post, I use two images:

And a light image:

And using TrueHDR:

I enjoy the randomness that comes in when using TrueHDR for making double-exposures.
